BRIDES
We’ve all thought it, “before my wedding I’ll be working out every day, only
eating kale, and I’m going to look AMAZING at my wedding.”
BE CAREFUL
We all want to look amazing, feel amazing, be amazing; but certain precautions
need to be taken. If you’re not used to
working out on a daily basis, don’t go work out for four hours every day and
kill yourself. EASE your way into
it! I’ve had so many brides that say,
“Alright, I’m starting tomorrow and working out for two hours every day until
my wedding.” Mind you, this may work for
some, but for the most of us we will just become burnt out after a week and
then dread going to the gym, will avoid it at all costs, and then cry in the
bathtub drinking a bottle of wine.
This is where EASING into it comes in!
Depending on how long you have until your wedding, of course. If you have over a year, then you have time
to actually TAKE YOUR TIME and ENJOY IT.
Wait, did I just say enjoy working out?
YES. Once again this is all
dependent on your specific personality, but personally if I’m not super
enthused about something…… I obviously won’t be too motivated. A great place to start is a fun class. Something you can drag your best friend to
and then go drink wine afterwards as a reward!
Okay now that I said wine, I KNOW I have your attention.
A lot of girls go to spin class, yoga;
really there are a TON of options. This
may only be once or twice a week, but it will get your body going and used to
working out. Believe it or not, working
out actually helps with depression and anxiety…which is another reason why we
need to be careful with overdoing it in the beginning and getting burnt
out. It may help relieve stress to be
active, but when it is suddenly stopped, you can actually go into depression
from the lifestyle change… and that is the LAST thing we want in our short time
before the wedding. So ease into it, go
to a few classes, go for a couple jogs, maybe lift weights a bit, and once
you’ve kind of gotten into a routine and you’re really enjoying it, THEN you
can step it up and be a crazy gym rat if you want. I may have made this sound like a long
process, but really all you need is maybe a couple weeks to work your way
up. We just don’t want you suddenly
shocking your body by going to hard, then being so sore and torn down that you
never go back to the gym again.
Anyways… go get swoll.
